The Daily Decision Fatigue Problem

Remembering to take medication requires executive function. On chaotic days, that function drops. Forgetting doses becomes routine. That is not laziness. That is a bandwidth problem.

The Pill Organizer Hack

Get a weekly pill organizer. Fill it once per week. Sunday night is the best time. The organizer shows you two things: what to take, and whether you took it.

Anchor It to a Routine

Tie your medication to a habit you already do without thinking. Examples:

  • Right after brushing your teeth in the morning
  • With your first cup of coffee
  • Before logging off work

This is called "habit stacking." You piggyback a new behavior onto an existing automatic one.

Backup Systems

  1. Phone Alarm: Set a daily alarm with a clear label. Not just "pill" but "AM meds."
  2. Voice Assistant: Ask Siri or Alexa to remind you daily. Repeat it back to set the reminder.
  3. Visible Location: Keep the pillbox where you see it. Not in a cabinet. On the counter, near the toothbrush, by the coffee maker.

Systems that work for humans. Not systems that demand perfect memory.
